William T. Hannah Sr.

? Services for William T. Hannah Sr., 81, Oskaloosa, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. American Legion Post No. 36 will provide military honors. Private family inurnment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.

Mr. Hannah died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at Hickory Pointe Care Home in Oskaloosa.

He was born June 13, 1922, on the family farm southwest of Oskaloosa, the son of Joseph Castle and Ethel Sally (Perry) Hannah. He was a lifelong resident of the Oskaloosa area.

Mr. Hannah worked in the real estate division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 24 years before he retired in 1982. He also farmed from 1948 to 1956 and was a surveyor for Jefferson County Soil Conservation District from 1956 to 1968.

He served from 1941 to 1945 during World War II in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Larner-Segraves American Legion Post No. 36 of Oskaloosa. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 14 AF & AM and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 62, both in Oskaloosa. He served on the board for Rural Water District No. 7, the Jefferson County Soil Conservation District, Oskaloosa school board and Rural Housing Authority, where he helped plan and develop Hannah Apartments in Oskaloosa. He was a member of Oskaloosa United Methodist Church.

He married Ruth M. Lobb Roach on April 16, 1948, in McLouth. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, William T. II, Noblesville, Ind.; a daughter, Becky Wise, Oskaloosa; a sister, Rosemary Parton, San Diego; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa, where Masonic services by Oskaloosa Lodge No. 14 will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
