Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 50-year-old man reported that between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday someone came into his home in the 2600 block of West 30th Street and poured glue on his living-room couch cushion, alarm-system control box, binoculars, camera, clothes, compact disc player, bedroom mattress and shoes, according to a police report. The suspect– whom the man knows –also cut pieces of his clothing, including five pairs of his hospital work scrubs and eight suit jackets. Missing from the home were bathroom towels, a cable TV box and remote control, window shades, compact discs, $180 in change and a collection of family pictures. The owner estimated the value of the stolen and damaged property at $4,455.
  • A burglar broke a door frame to break into a home in the 100 block of Florida street between 12:05 p.m. and 3 p.m. Monday and took property worth more than $3,000, including a $500 digital camera, according to a police report. The items belong to a 27-year-old self-employed man who lives at the address.
  • A 46-year-old Edgerton man told police that a burglar shattered the glass on a door window to break into his home in the 100 section of East 2400 Road. The burglary happened sometime between 11 a.m. and 5:08 p.m. Monday, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report. The only items the burglar took from inside the home were four coffee cans with an undetermined amount of quarters in each. From an unlocked tool shed and the surrounding property, the burglar took a $2,800 wood splitter, six fiberglass ladders valued at $1,800, two cordless drills, a handsaw and a jigsaw, according to a report.
