Beautiful sky

To the editor:

Thank you to Charles Jones for representing those of us who didn’t go to the courthouse to voice our opinion that the great floodlight flag flown by the Heritage Baptist Church is an intrusion into our shared environment.

But what would we have done at the courthouse? Sing “Home On The Range” while others sang “The Star-Spangled Banner”?

The Kansas nighttime sky is a beautiful and comforting resource that is fast disappearing due to urban sprawl around Lawrence, and it deserves preservation now and in the future — patriotism or not.

There are many in our community who think we live in a great country but don’t feel the need to cram that fact down the throats of our neighbors.

Sue Ashline,

Lawrence
