The future bride is the daughter of the Revs. Robert and Katherine Payne, Waverly, Mo. She is a 1995 graduate of Wesport High School and a 2000 graduate of William Jewell College, where she received a bachelor of arts. She is pursuing a master of divinity at Central Baptist Theological Seminary.

The future groom is a 1988 graduate of Lawrence High School. He received a bachelor of arts in history in 1994 and a bachelor of science in park resource management in 1998 from Kansas State University. He is pursuing a master of divinity degree at Central Baptist Theological Seminary.

The couple plan a July 24, 2004, wedding at Chandler Baptist Church in Liberty, Mo.

The future groom is a 1995 graduate of Ottawa High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration in 1999 and a master’s degree in accounting and information systems in 2000 from Kansas University. He is a certified public accountant in the audit department of Deloitte & Touche, Kansas City.

The couple plan a Sept. 13 wedding at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.

The future groom is the son of Glen and Joyce Smith, Canton, Texas. He is a 1994 graduate of Poteet High School, Mesquite, Texas. He is pursuing a computer network engineering degree at Westwood College in Dallas. He is employed by Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Terrell, Texas.
