Emerson David Kemp

— Services for Emerson David Kemp, 91, Manhattan, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Idana. Burial will be in Idana Cemetery.

Mr. Kemp died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at St. Joseph Senior Center in Manhattan.

He was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Clay County, the son of Ferdinand and Sarah (Shields) Kemp.

Mr. Kemp farmed and worked as a rural mail carrier. He was postmaster in Idana from 1943 until he retired in 1980. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Idana.

He married Nellie Harner on Nov. 20, 1932. She died Jan. 7, 1992.

Survivors include a son, Emerson, Idana; three daughters, Constance Hinnen, Benton, Boneda Williams, Parker, Colo., and Lanell Finneran, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, 918 Seventh St., Clay Center 67432.
