Pray for peace

To the editor:

Throughout our community and in your paper, people are continually crying out for peace for our world, often disagreeing on how it can be achieved. Peace in our time would be a miracle and I only know of one source for true miracles. Do you really want things to change? Do you really want peace in our world? Then join other believers on Thursday, May 1, for the National Day of Prayer and lift up your prayers to the only one who can truly bring us peace. In 1952, Congress established the National Day of Prayer as an annual event by a joint resolution, signed into law by President Truman.

The Lawrence Association of Evangelicals has arranged for a prayer vigil at City Hall in the City Commission meeting room from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday. This is open to anyone who desires to join the community in praying for our nation, leaders, the military, churches, world events and the miracle of peace. You are welcome to come and go at anytime during these hours.

If you cannot join us at City Hall then join us wherever you are that day in lifting your voice to God. Prayer is something everybody can do. This is an opportunity to participate in something that WILL make a difference.

Nancy Redding,

Lawrence
