LHS golfer wins event with 75
Lions finish 15th
Topeka ? Lawrence High senior Scott Andrews picked a great time to play his best round. Andrews won the Topeka Invitational title Monday at Topeka Country Club, shooting a 75 in the 20-team field.
“He’s been playing well in practice, but this was a pleasant surprise,” LHS coach Ron Commons said. “Now that we know he can do that in a tournament, we hope he can continue to do so.”
Even that wasn’t enough to keep the Lions from finishing back in the pack, though. LHS was 15th overall, carding a 344. Blue Valley West won, with a 318.
Free State senior Aaron Webber was the Firebirds’ best placer, carding an 84. FSHS was 17th overall, with a 350.
