‘Privatization’ of Christianity concerns author
Rodney Clapp, Christian author and cultural critic, will be in Lawrence next week to speak at Kansas University and participate in other activities.
- Clapp will give a talk, “It’s Not Our Dog: Religion, Churches and the Public Good,” at 7 p.m. Monday in the Kansas Room of the Kansas Union.
- A student coffee and conversation with Clapp will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Signs of Life, 722 Mass., a bookstore, art gallery and espresso bar.
- Clapp will be a featured guest at a dinner and discussion Tuesday at the Ecumenical Christian Ministries building, 1204 Oread Drive.
Dinner will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a panel discussion with representatives from Catholic, Orthodox, evangelical and mainline churches.
- Clapp will speak at the University Forum, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at ECM, where he will give a talk called “Confusion of the Holy with Consumerism.”
These events are open to the community. A freewill offering will be accepted at the ECM dinner.
