Leslie Dull and Christian Oden, Lawrence, announce the birth of son Ethan William Joseph Oden, born March 29, 2003, at the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Becky Aldinger and Mitch Rorabaugh, Lawrence, announce the arrival of Allie Beth Rorabaugh, born April 6, 2003. She has a sister, Kenzie Anne Rorabaugh, 1.

Grandparents are Stan and Marge Aldinger, Iowa City, Iowa, and Dr. Donald and Sherry Rorabaugh, Abilene. Thelma Petersen, Iowa City, Iowa, is great-grandmother.

Sarah Workman, Lecompton, is the recipient of an academic scholarship and a dance scholarship from Cloud County Community College for the 2003-2004 academic year.

Sarah will graduate this spring from Perry-Lecompton High School. She is the daughter of Scott and Donna Workman.

Geoffrey Washburn, Lawrence, is a member of the Scabbard and Blade National Military Honor Society, which was honored at the annual Chancellor’s Award for Public Service ceremony at Syracuse University in New York.

Nicole Berry, a senior at Free State High School, has been selected to receive a $1,500 President’s Leadership Council Scholarship to attend Oklahoma State University next fall. She is the daughter of Walter and Catharine Berry, Lawrence.

The staff of The Baker Orange, the student newspaper at Baker University, won awards for 54 individual entries as well as top statewide honors in the Kansas Associated Collegiate Press annual contest.

The Orange won its fourth-consecutive All-Kansas Award, designating the newspaper as the highest-rated paper at a four-year, private college or university in Kansas.

Kristin Callaway, El Dorado junior, was named Journalist of the Year for all four-year college newspapers. This is the fourth-consecutive year that a member of The Orange staff has won the award.

The Baker Orange’s online site also placed third in overall competition.

Area staff members who were individual winners in the contest were James Gillispie and Claire Kueffer, Baldwin; Ashley Kraus, Eudora, and Kristin Bock and Patrick Lattin, Lawrence.
