To the editor:

Hooray, hooray, hooray to the staff at Lawrence Alternative High School for making such a positive difference in the lives of students and their parents.

It is very difficult to watch your child struggle through school, whatever the reason. Then to see these students succeed is wonderful. It gives a parent such joy to read honest, positive comments on their teen’s report card.

My son and daughter who attend LAHS have better self-esteem and now have an excitement about learning as a result of the methods of instruction, the encouragement, friendliness, respect and helpfulness of the LAHS staff, in addition to the individualized pace. Lawrence Alternative High School has practiced the motto “No Child Left Behind” for years.

What a blessing LAHS is to our Lawrence community.

I believe that Mr. Minder needs to look elsewhere to cut dollars from the school district’s budget.
