Betty Larea Cluchey

? Services for Betty Larea Cluchey, 71, Topeka, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rolling Hills Christian Church, Topeka.

Mrs. Cluchey died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, in Topeka. Cremation is planned.

She was born July 19, 1931, in the Clearfield community, the daughter of Walter Pooch and Vera Rew. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1949 and from Clark’s Business College in 1950. She had lived in Topeka for 53 years.

Mrs. Cluchey worked for Shawnee County Court system as a stenographer and then for Dorothy Thomas School of Dance as a seamstress while she ironed for area residents. She was then a specialty insurance agent for AAA Automobile Club of Kansas, retiring after 22 years. She was a member of Kaw Valley Community Club and volunteered for Shares.

She married Orval B. Cluchey on Jan. 28, 1950, in rural Eudora. He died earlier.

Survivors include three daughters, Diana Larea Cluchey and Michele R. Pannone, both of Topeka, and Rhonda Schneider, Nortonville; a sister, Nancy Buckley, Eudora; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
