Roy Williams’ salary breakdown at KU

Roy Williams was paid a salary of $129,380 as Kansas University’s men’s basketball coach, but his total financial compensation package was worth much more.

According to information provided the Journal-World by the KU Department of Business and Planning, here were Williams’ perks:

  • A guarantee of a radio-TV package worth a minimum annual amount of $458,000.
  • Two automobiles.
  • Payment of reasonable in-state and out-of-state travel and entertainment expenses.
  • Permission to operate basketball camps in accordance with policies of the university and its athletic corporation concerning such camps.
  • Payment of the annual premium on a $1 million term life insurance policy.
  • Regular health insurance, retirement and other fringe benefits available to athletic department employees.
  • Supplemental compensation is potentially available.

Joe Holladay and Steve Robinson, the two assistants Williams is taking with him to North Carolina, were paid $141,500 and $120,000.

Ben Miller, the third assistant who may or may not be joining Williams at UNC, has an annual salary of $75,000.
