U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson will be keynote speaker Tuesday at the annual Women’s Recognition Program at Kansas University.

Robinson, a KU law graduate, was appointed to the federal bench in 2001. She is the second woman to be appointed to the position in Kansas, and the first black woman.

She will speak during the annual awards event organized by the Emily Taylor Women’s Resource Center. The ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Big 12 Room at the Kansas Union.

Five women will be inducted into the KU Women’s Hall of Fame, which was started in 1970. They are Joyce Castle, professor of music and dance; Mary Lee Hummert, interim vice provost for student support; Martha Langley, financial director for Hilltop Child Development Center; Toni-Marie Montgomery, dean of the School of Fine Arts who will leave in June; and Cora Lee Beers Price, former assistant professor of classics.

Others who will be presented awards on Tuesday:

• Margaret Mason, junior soccer player from Canada, outstanding woman student in athletics.
• Lea Burgess Carland, Lawrence junior, outstanding woman student in community service.
• Jihyun Kim, graduate student from South Korea, outstanding international woman student.
• Marian Hukle, Lawrence graduate student, outstanding nontraditional woman student.
• Aramis Watson, Wichita senior, and Fouzia Haq, Kansas City, Mo., senior, outstanding women students in leadership.
• Jessica St. Clair, Valley Center senior, outstanding woman student in partnership.
• Katherine Pryor, associate director of University Theatre, outstanding woman staff member.
• Elizabeth Asiedu, assistant professor of economics, and Adrianne Kunkel, assistant professor of communication studies, outstanding women educators.
• Tanya Stoyanova, Kansas City, Mo., senior, Sally Frost Mason outstanding woman student in the biological sciences.
