Snowboarder sued for child’s injuries

? A snowboarder facing criminal charges after a collision that injured a 6-year-old Kansas girl in a skiing class was named in a civil suit filed by the girl’s parents Tuesday.

Michael Wolff, 20, of Killeen, Texas, is charged with child abuse, reckless endangerment and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was arrested last month after allegedly running into a line of children ages 5 through 7 at Sunlight Mountain Resort in Glenwood Springs resort March 15.

The lawsuit filed by Steven and Erin Malone of Lawrence, Kan., says their daughter Rielly suffered a broken leg and facial abrasions in the collision. The suit says Wolff was snowboarding extremely fast.

The suit seeks undisclosed damages including the costs of surgery. The attorney representing the family said he could not comment.

Wolff was being held Tuesday at the Garfield County jail under $15,000 bail. He faces up to 24 years in prison and $750,000 in fines if convicted of all charges.

Arraignment was set for April 24.
