KU’s spring game now a scrimmage

Saturday’s Kansas University spring football game has been downgraded to a practice session, coach Mark Mangino reported Wednesday.

“We’ve had a very productive spring and have shown improvement in nearly every phase of the game,” Mangino said. “However, we have several players banged up. Although none of the injuries will keep players out of fall camp, we don’t want to put anyone in jeopardy.”

The practice session will conclude with a mini-scrimmage of about 40 to 50 plays.

The session will begin at 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. After the scrimmage, KU players will be available for autographs.
