Governor sports KU gear during jog in New Orleans

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius showed her Kansas colors during an early-morning jog Monday in New Orleans.

In the Big Easy for the Kansas-Syracuse game later Monday, Sebelius went running with a Jayhawk sticker on her shirt, according to her spokeswoman, Nicole Corcoran-Basso. People were cheering and yelling “Go Jayhawks” as she passed by, Corcoran-Basso said.

Sebelius, in New Orleans since Saturday’s KU-Marquette national semifinal game, was betting on the outcome of the game with New York Gov. George Pataki.

Sebelius wagered 10 Kansas City strip steaks, a dozen buffalo burgers and chocolate-covered sunflower kernels — about $185 total — against Pataki’s five large tubs of orange sherbet and a case of vintage Finger Lakes wine.
