Vandals decried

To the editor:

As a member of the Lawrence Coalition for Peace and Justice, I do denounce the recent painting of peace slogans downtown.

As a practical matter, no one’s mind will be changed because people paint on inoffensive, private buildings. Rather, it hurts our credibility to add to some critics’ false accusations the truth that (now) a few of us are vandals.

And, in a tiny way, the view that “other people don’t matter as long as I make my point” reflects the attitude of those making this illegal and immoral war.
