Thelma E. Luse

? Services for Thelma E. Luse, 100, Topeka, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in Topeka. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka.

Mrs. Luse died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Lexington Park Nursing Center in Topeka.

She was born Jan. 9, 1903, in Weaubleau, Mo., the daughter of Luke and Alona (George) Fitzhugh. She grew up and attended school in St. Marys.

Mrs. Luse owned and operated a bakery in McLouth from 1922 to 1938 and an appliance store in McLouth from 1946 to 1973. She was a member of Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Baptist Church, both in McLouth.

She married Cecil M. Luse on Jan. 10, 1922. He died in 1973.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Wild, Laguna Hills, Calif.; a son, Rafael Sanchez, Sebastian, Fla.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

A granddaughter died in 1970 and two great-grandsons died earlier, in 1980 and 1993.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church of McLouth building fund or American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka 66604.
