The Douglas County Kids Voting Committee is recruiting volunteers to assist with Kids Voting on Election Day. Kids Voting sponsors 60 polling sites Nov. 5, with four to eight volunteers needed per polling shift; the committee seeks about 450 volunteers. Polling shifts are from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Kids Voting is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational program to enhance civics education and provide youth with voting experience.

Volunteers need to be 12 or older, and youths should have a parent helping. They must attend a training session Oct. 29 at the Lawrence Arts Center. Voters will be officially sworn in at the session, which should last about 45 minutes. To volunteer, call the center or e-mail at rhvc@ixks.com.

Last week’s results
