Gang dispute leaves two dead in Wichita

? Two men were killed and another was injured early Sunday during a shoot-out in a park near Wichita State University, authorities said.

Police said rival gang members who had been arguing at a convenience store went to Fairmount Park after security guards chased them away.

Shots were fired about 1 a.m., and an 18-year-old man was killed in the park. Another man, described as being in his late teens or early 20s, died driving away.

A third man was treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound to the arm.

Members of the Fairmount Neighborhood Assn. have been working to keep their area safe from gang and drug-dealing activity, receiving local and federal grants to help in their efforts.
