The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met Sept. 11 for its weekly game and lesson. The game was stratified and used the Howell movement.

Don Brennaman directed the game and gave the lesson.

Hellen Huffman and Bob Huffman placed first in A and B. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley finished second in A and B. Barb Hamilton and Bill Hamilton finished third in A. Gladys Dight and Betty Spalsbury finished fourth in A and first in C.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met Sept. 13 for its weekly game. The game was stratified and used the Mitchell movement.

North-South winners were Frances Vogel and Erna Holmes in A. Second place in A went to Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough. Don Brennaman and Bob Anderson finished third in A and first in B and C. East-West winners were Mike Blumenfeld and Cathy Blumenfeld in A, B and C. Madelyn Jenks and Bobbi McCorkle finished second in A.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Monday was stratified, used the Mitchell movement and was directed by Virginia Seaver.

The North-South winners were Jerry Sloan and Bill Schutzel, followed by Sally Taylor and Shirlie Vaughn. Clyde Romer and Steve Phelps placed third, followed by Julia Brooks and Mona Bell. Placing first in the B and C strata were Bob Anderson and Barb Hamilton. Second place in the B strata were Don Brennaman and Bill Hamilton.

The East-West winners were Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman, followed by Patt Radford and John Hickey. Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee were third in A and first in B. Chuck Hedges and Kent McCullough placed fourth in A. Placing second in B and first in C were Judy Bevan and Frances Vogel. Third in B and second in C were Cathy Blumenfeld and Michael Blumenfeld.

Sally Taylor earned her life master in the regional tournament last weekend in Wichita.
