Crash sends 2 to hospital

Two people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a collision at Teepee Junction north of Lawrence.

The accident occurred at 1:20 p.m. at the junction of U.S. Highways 24 and 40, a Kansas Highway Patrol accident report said.

A two-vehicle accident at the junction of U.S. Highways 24 and 40 sent two people to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical personnel on Wednesday tended to Luis Choudhury, London, a passenger in one of the vehicles.

Marc C. Belcher, 47, Lawrence, was southbound on U.S. 24 in a 2000 Ford pickup truck when the truck collided with a 1995 Ford passenger car driven by Jessica Harjo, 39, Lawrence, the report said. Other details about the accident were unavailable Wednesday.

Harjo was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released. Also taken to LMH was a passenger in her car, 35-year-old Luis Choudhury of London. He was also treated and released.

Belcher was not injured. Two other passengers in Harjo’s vehicle Misty Gardea, 32, Lawrence, and Laverna Harjo, 33, Sasakwa, Okla. were not injured.
