KU’s Robinson named to top Kansas Board of Regents post

A high-ranking Kansas University official was named Tuesday to the top administrative post of the Kansas Board of Regents.

Reggie Robinson, counselor and chief of staff to KU Chancellor Robert Hemenway, was named as president and chief executive officer for the regents, according to regents’ spokesman Dick Carter.

Robinson will start later this fall, but no date has been set. He will be paid $135,000 per year.

Robinson has held his current post at KU since 1998. He has a law degree from KU and previously served as acting director of the Office for Victims of Crime with the Justice Department.

Robinson was one of four finalists for the position, which became vacant when Kim Wilcox returned to KU to become dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Wilcox was making nearly $140,000 per year when he left the regents’ position.

Others considered in the national search for the position were Kendall Blanchard, business and anthropology professor at Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colo.; Barry Martin Dorsey, president of the University of Rio Grande in south-central Ohio, and Paula Myrick Short, vice chancellor for academic affairs on the Tennessee Board of Regents.
