Wooden high on ASU

So far, it appears Arizona State is the team to beat in the Keith Wooden college basketball recruiting sweepstakes.

“I really like coach Evans a lot and the players there. Arizona State is appealing to me right now,” the 6-foot-9 Free State High forward said Sunday of ASU coach Rob Evans, who visited with Keith and his mother, Christy, last week at the Wooden’s residence in Lawrence.

“They were at all my games last year and I really like coach Evans. It’s a mutual thing right now.”

Of his official in-home visit with ASU last week, Wooden said: “It went real well. Coach Evans brought in a video and it showed the family structure of his program, which my mom really liked.”

Wooden, who has visited ASU, has yet to schedule any more in-home or campus visits, yet he may do so in the future. He said he’s heard from KU assistant Steve Robinson on a regular basis. Is KU out of the picture?

“I would not say out,” Wooden said, adding that his mom was extremely impressed with KU.
