Stanislaus ‘Stance’ Spiewak Jr.

Leavenworth Services for Stanislaus “Stance” Spiewak Jr., 87, Leavenworth, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Leavenworth. Burial will follow in Mount Muncie Cemetery.

Mr. Spiewak died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at his home.

He was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Leavenworth, the son of Stanislaus and Josephine (Bukaty) Spiewak.

Mr. Spiewak worked for Helmer’s Furniture Factory and the Leavenworth Bus Co. He also worked as a welder to build LST ships during World War II at Missouri Valley Bridge Works in Evansville, Ind. He was a carpenter for C.A. Dickson, and then for Fred Butzin, both contractors, until he retired in 1976. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He married Betty Dickson in 1939. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Janice Potts, Lawrence; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A son, Gary, died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Davis Funeral Chapel.
