Police seek suspect in weekend rape

Lawrence Police seek two men believed to have raped a woman at a weekend party.

An 18-year-old Lawrence woman told police Sunday evening that the men raped her about 3:30 that morning during a small party at a private residence in western Lawrence, Sgt. Mike Pattrick said.

The woman said she did not know her attackers, whom Pattrick could only describe as white males.

Police are investigating the allegations and attempting to find the suspects.

The report was made public Tuesday morning.

The alleged rape was one of two reported to local police over the weekend.

The Kansas University Public Safety Office on Monday revealed that an 18-year-old female KU student had reported being raped early Saturday in her Oliver Hall dorm room.

She said she was lying in bed but not yet sleeping when a man she didn’t know entered her unlocked dorm room, Lt. Schuyler Bailey said.

Officers are looking for a suspect, whom the alleged victim described as a 5-foot, 9-inch white male with a muscular upper body and red-tinted brown hair in a buzz cut.

Anyone with information about the alleged Sunday morning rape is asked to call the Lawrence Police Department at 832-7501 or Douglas County Crime Stoppers at 843-TIPS.

To report information about the alleged KU campus rape, call the public safety office at 864-5900 or KU Crime Stoppers at 864-8888.
