A two-game trip to California and the annual Jayhawk Classic highlight the 2002-2003 Kansas University women’s basketball schedule.

After opening at home against Texas-El Paso on Nov. 24, the Jayhawks will play at Cal State-Fullerton on Nov. 27 and at San Diego U. on Nov. 30, before returning home for the Jayhawk Classic on Dec. 6-7.

This year’s Jayhawk Classic field includes Western Illinois, Western Michigan and Texas Southern.

Other nonconference foes on KU’s schedule are Wichita State, Creighton, UMKC, Indiana-Purdue Indianapolis, Hampton and Georgia State. Kansas will play Georgia State on Jan. 8 in the Feist Shootout at Kansas City’s Kemper Arena.

“We would like to be able to develop some confidence this year before the Big 12 schedule begins,” KU coach Marian Washington said, “so we’re looking forward to our nonconference games.”

KU’s conference opener will be on Jan. 8 against Kansas State in Allen Fieldhouse.
