Rees is leading the department’s efforts to finish the trafficway, which already connects the Kansas Turnpike northwest of Lawrence with U.S. Highway 59 at the south edge of town.

KDOT wants to extend the trafficway east along a 32nd Street alignment, through the Baker Wetlands, to Kansas Highway 10 at Noria Road.
