He was born Oct. 30, 1922, in rural Eudora, the son of Harvey H. and Ruth (Haling) Miskimen.

A lifelong resident of the Lawrence area, he attended school in Vinland.

Mr. Miskimen served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge.

He had worked at Deems John Deere Implement and was manager at Tony's Phillips 66. He was an equipment operator for Douglas County Public Works until he retired in 1987.

He married Venita L. Plaisted on April 28, 1948, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sisters, Grace Oshel, Lawrence, N. Jean Keefer, Oskaloosa, and Phyllis Harris, Littleton, Colo.

The family will meet with friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or Meals on Wheels. They may be sent in care of the mortuary.
