Cold weather ahead for spooky holiday

If you like the feel of goosebumps on Halloween, the weather should help out.

“We’ll have a chilling Halloween,” said Matt Makens, 6News meteorologist.

Thursday’s night skies will be murky and overcast, with temperatures dropping into the 30s, he said.

“Trick or treaters are going to have to bundle up because it will be in the 30s and pretty chilly,” he said. “They can’t be lifeguards this year, unless they’re very brave.”

And the weather leading up to Halloween will also be on the gloomy side.

Makens predicted light rain or mist for Wednesday morning, ending in the afternoon.

Temperatures will drop as the afternoon goes on, finally ending up into the upper 30s by the end of the day. The overnight low will be 34.

For Thursday, the weather will stay cloudy, with temperatures staying in the 30s most of the day.

“It’s going to be pretty optimistic that we hit 40,” he said. Light snow is also possible between late Thursday night and Friday morning, he said.

“It would be very brief. It’s not going to cover the ground by any means,” he said.
