Leonard M. Burg

Atchison Services for Leonard M. Burg, 69, Atchison, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Church, rural Atchison. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Burg died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at the Atchison Hospital.

He was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Effingham, the son of Joseph and Helen (Cummings) Burg. He attended St. Ann’s Catholic School and Atchison County Community High School. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He was employed by the Pillsbury Company and Page Airways, both of Atchison. He also worked as a journeyman wireman.

Mr. Burg was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Union No. 545. He also served on the Effingham City Council.

He married Alice Whitaker on Sept. 1, 1956. She died earlier. He later married Lois Armstrong, who died Dec. 7, 1998.

Mr. Burg is survived by four daughters, Rebecca Tyler, Denver, Jennifer Whaley, Effingham, Pam Finnegan, Atchison, and Hope Ogden, Lawrence; a sister, Dorothy Ball, Atchison; a brother, Raymond, Long Beach, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home chapel. Friends may call afterward until 8:30 p.m.
