Helen Cecilia Garst

She was born Sept. 17, 1908, in Vliets, the daughter of Charles and Cecilia (Benson) Rosvall. She attended school in Marshall County and later went to business school in Kansas City.

She and her husband moved in 1927 to Quinter and in 1945 to a farm outside Overbrook. They later moved to Overbrook.

Mrs. Garst was a member of Church of the Brethren in Quinter and served with the Women Society of Christian Service of Overbrook United Methodist Church and at Washington Creek Church of the Brethren. She was a member of Amaranth Club, JJJ Club and a 50-year member of Needleart Club.

She married William Clinton Garst on April 23, 1926, in WaKeeney. He died May 17, 2001.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean LaVay Fox, Severn, Md., and Judy Ann Hinman, Fairmount, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Anita June, died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Overbrook.
