Ava Mae McKoon
Ottawa Services for Ava Mae McKoon, 94, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Lane Cemetery.
Mrs. McKoon died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born Jan. 24, 1908, in Lane, the daughter of William Penn and Amelia Augusta (Keyser) Landess. She grew up and attended school in the Lane area.
Mrs. McKoon was a licensed practical nurse for several years at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa and for more than 13 years at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Licensed Practical Nurses Assn.
She and her husband were longtime Franklin County residents until they moved in 1978 to Eudora.
She married Frank Ferris McKoon on Oct. 22, 1924, in Ottawa. He died Dec. 29, 1988.
Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Mages, Eudora, and Virginia Arnold, Independence, Mo.; a son, Roy McKoon, Portland, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Monday until the service.
