Kansas soccer falls to No. 3 Longhorns

? Texas scored a pair of goals in each half and rolled over Kansas University, 4-1, in soccer on Friday.

No. 3 UT (13-2-1 overall, 8-0-0 Big 12) scored goals 6 minutes, 2 seconds apart in the first half for a 2-0 lead, but Kansas (11-4-2, 4-3-1) pulled to 2-1 on Jessica Smith’s unassisted goal in the 46th minute.

The Longhorns responded just less than four minutes later and added an insurance goal in the 54th minute.

“I thought we played well,” KU coach Mark Francis said. “I was proud of our kids. They played the third-best team in the country, and they’ve beaten eveybody else in the conference, so we’re not alone. But, I really thought we gave a good showing for ourselves.”

Texas outshot KU, 15-14, but Kansas attempted just three shots in the first half.

The Jayhawks will travel to No. 6 Texas A&M on Sunday.
