KU women tapped 11th

? Texas Tech has been picked to win its fourth Big 12 Conference women’s basketball title in a preseason poll of the league’s head coaches.

Kansas was picked to finish 11th after winding up in the league basement last season with an 0-16 record. Nebraska, which has had several player defections, was tapped for last place this year.

Texas Tech had six first-place votes and totaled 114 points, narrowly edging Kansas State which had four first-place votes and 113 points. Texas was not far behind in third place, with the other two first-place votes and 105 points.

Oklahoma and Colorado rounded out the top five with 88 and 79 points, respectively. Iowa State was sixth with 70 points, followed by Baylor (59), Missouri (55), Oklahoma State (38), Texas A&M (32), Kansas (24) and Nebraska (15).
