Lillian F. Gantz

Services for Lillian F. Gantz, 93, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Underwood Cemetery, Williamstown.

Mrs. Gantz died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 4, 1909, in Linwood, the daughter of Frederick George and Carolina Anna Marie (Kampschroeder) Torneden. She attended Villa Eden Elementary, west of Linwood, and Lawrence Business College.

Mrs. Gantz and her husband farmed in the Linwood and Buck Creek communities until retiring in 1962. She moved to Lawrence and worked for a physician for three years and for the food services department in the Kansas Union until 1978.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

She married Frederick George Gantz on Dec. 24, 1931, in Higginsville, Mo. He died in 1962.

Survivors include five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A son, George Gantz, died Feb. 6, 1996, and a daughter, Maxine Sundbye, died May 26, 1990.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
