Buffalo auction slated Nov. 13 at Maxwell WA

Approximately 100 buffalo will be offered at a public auction on Nov. 13 at Maxwell Wildlife Area.

Most of the animals come from the largest herd, at Maxwell WA, near McPherson.

People come from all over the country to buy buffalo for as little as $225 for a bull calf or as much as $3,000 for an adult cow. The auction will begin at 11 a.m.

The refuge is located six miles north and one and one-half mile west of Canton.

Commission to meet Thursday in Manhattan

Wildlife and Parks commissioners will conduct a public meeting and hearing next Thursday at the Manhattan Holiday Inn.

Public sessions are scheduled at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

A 10 a.m ribbon-cutting ceremony is also planned at the new Fancy Creek Shooting Range in Tuttle Creek State Park.
