Baker decision on hold

? Even the excitement of playing for the championship won’t persuade Giants owner Peter Magowan to change his plan to address manager Dusty Baker’s contract status until after the World Series.

Speaking on the field before Game 1 on Saturday, Magowan reiterated the position he has stated for months: the Giants will wait to negotiate with Baker and general manager Brian Sabean, whose contracts expire this fall.

“We’ll address all that when the season’s over, and we said that right from day one of spring training,” Magowan said.

“I think all these things will be decided once we’ve played our last baseball game. I’d say within a day or two (after the season), we’ll know who the general manager will be, and within a week, we’ll know who the manager will be.”
