Alean Sims Courter

Oskaloosa ? Services for Alean Sims Courter, 79, of the Dunavant community of rural Valley Falls, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery east of Valley Falls.

Mrs. Courter died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Village Villa Care Center in Nortonville.

She was born July 11, 1923, in Grundy County, Mo., the daughter of Claude Jefferson and Zola (Ballard) Sims. She was a homemaker.

She married Paul Henry Courter Sr. on Sept. 4, 1940 in Kingston, Mo. He died in December 2000.

Survivors include a son, Paul H. Courter, Jr., Nortonville; a daughter, Pauline Showalter, Easton; one brother, Kenneth Sims, a; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Judy Maun Oliver, and a great-granddaughter died earlier.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
