Venture Crew 2691, chartered to the Wesleyan Church of Lawrence, completed a 22-mile hike Oct. 5 on the Rails to Trails from Garnett.

Members who participated were Wes Cook, Josh Cosgrove, Phillip Gilreath, Cameron Hershiser, Westley Hinkle, Will Sharp, Evan Tedlock, Zeke Turner, Peter Tuttle and Tristan Wagner.

They were accompanied by adult advisers Glen Sharp and Rowley Tedlock.

Boy Scouts from Troop 53, chartered to the First Christian Church of Lawrence, attended the district Camp-O-Ree Oct. 11-13 at Camp Bromelsick.

Scouts participated in navigation, nature, flint and steel firebuilding, flag ceremony, wildlife target shooting and cardboard canoe racing.

The Lightning Patrol took first place for all the events at Camp-O-Ree. Members of Lightning Patrol were Tim Muetz, Nick Chance, Zach Schmidt, David Teefey and Alex Webster.

The Scorpion Patrol took third place in the cardboard canoe race and first place in the flag ceremony. Members of the Scorpion Patrol were Jimmy Kelley, Nick Blessing, Patrick Coffey, Bob Larrabee, Evan Mielke and Zak Stremel.

Adult Leaders who attended were Ron Spangler, Eric Muetz, Roger Rieder, Mitch Yulich, Carey Berger, Steve Segebrecht and Tony Schmidt.

Boy Scout Troop 55, chartered to West Side Presbyterian Church of Lawrence, had its fall Court of Honor on Sept. 23.

The boys earned 168 merit badges, 33 rank advancements and 11 special awards.

Earning the 12-month camper award were Scouts Andrew Clancy, Kameron Gibler and Chase Samuels and Scout leader Don Clancy. Kevin Cottrell completed the mile swim at Bartle Scout camp. Bryce Baringer, Drew Braden, Bryant Denning, Scott Hird, Brad Klug and Scott Ollila earned the World Conservation Award.

Boys who earned rank advancements were Ted Olson, Scout; Brian Cain, Jacob Christilles, John McLean, Ted Olson, Jared Willits, Tenderfoot; Joseph Vannicola, Jared Willits, Second Class; Chase Samuels, Michael Scott, First Class; Andrew Clancy, Scott Hird, Brandon Mailand, Corey Vadnais, Ben Vogel, Kevin Willmott, Star; Bryce Baringer, Jeff Hornberger, Logan Marienau, Karl McDonald and Austin Winn, Life.

Taylor Anderson, Jason Vannicola and Patrick Denning earned Eagle recognition. Jason Vannicola had his Eagle Court of Honor on Sept. 8. Patrick Denning had his Sept. 29. Taylor Anderson hasn’t set a date for his official Court of Honor.

Eagle Scout Oliver Devlin received the Bronze Palm.
