16 KU freshmen named Chancellors Club scholars

Sixteen freshmen at Kansas University have earned top honors as Chancellors Club scholars for 2002-2003.

The club, a major-donor organization at the KU Endowment Association, recognizes National Merit finalists who had an outstanding high school academic record.

The freshmen receive renewable scholarships from the KU Endowment Association and were honored Friday. Since 1979, there have been 196 of these scholarships awarded.

Kansas recipients: Trey Allen, Daniel Marc Dykstra and Katie Lohrenz, all of Wichita; Craig Paschang, Stilwell; and Annie Ingham, Matthew Terrill, Sam Wilder and Richard Kenneth Yang, all of Overland Park.

Out-of-state recipients: Sarah Boatright, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; Emily Susanna Brooks and Jenny Rizzo, both of Kansas City, Mo.; Hilary Compton, Camdenton, Mo.; Sarah Gibbs, Waconia, Minn.; John Higgins, La Porte, Ind.; Michael Minea, Colleyville, Tex.; and Jacqueline Victor, Austin, Tex.
