Pfunder services

He was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Sedalia, Mo., the son of George William and Luella (Matthews) Pfunder. He grew up in Kansas City, Kan., and attended Wyandotte schools. He moved to Lawrence in 1987.

Mr. Pfunder served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was discharged in October 1945. He worked for a Lincoln Mercury dealership in Kansas City, Mo., then in Dodge City and Great Bend. He retired in 1984 as general manager of the dealership in Great Bend. He was a member of American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post and Stoney Point Christian Church in Kansas City, Kan.

He married Annette Nowland on Jan. 17, 1942, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Sandra Jo Denney, Lawrence; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A son, Larry Dean, died April 5, 1993.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of the funeral home.
