Roberta Ann Paine

Ottawa Services for Roberta Ann Paine, 80, Ottawa, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Mrs. Paine died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at her home.

She was born March 30, 1922, in Neodesha, the daughter of John Robert and Ada (Grier) Christian. She grew up and attended public school in Lawrence, then moved with her family in 1942 to Ottawa.

Mrs. Paine worked for J.C. Penney Co. in Ottawa and Garden City. She later worked for the Ottawa Herald as a receptionist and in mail circulation, and she helped with the family business, Paine’s Bootery of Ottawa, until she retired in 1986.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Union Chapter No. 15, Order of the Eastern Star, both in Ottawa.

She married Keith W. Paine on Sept. 19, 1959, in Ottawa. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Steven K. Paine, Houston; a sister, Mildred L. Williamson, Lawrence; and two brothers, Jack S. Christian, Ottawa, and John R. Christian, Emporia.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home. The family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church.
