LHS player of the week: Brandon McAnderson

Positions: Running back/linebacker

The game: McAnderson neared 1,000 yards rushing this season by piling up 207 yards on 29 carries in the Lions’ 21-7 win against Shawnee Mission East last Friday. It was the second time this season he’s put up more than 200 yards in one game, and the fifth time he’s rushed for more than 165. Even better, with the return of Brian Seymour and John Davis to the LHS offense, McAnderson can see more time at running back instead of also playing fullback.

Comment: “People don’t realize that he’s (Davis) a true fullback for us,” LHS coach Dirk Wedd said. “Now we can move Brandon to tailback, and that’s where he’s most effective.”
