Shawnee ? Lawrence High seniors Dylan McClain and Andy Struble placed 2-3 at Saturday’s SM West Invitational cross country meet.

The meet was divided into classifications with seniors running against seniors, juniors versus juniors and so on.

McClain traversed the 5K course in 16:16, while Struble ran 16:19. John Zehr placed ninth.

Lawrence’s Harry Swartz was sixth in the junior race, Drew Vogel third in the sophomore race and Matt Riley eighth in the freshman race on the boys side.

For the girls, the Lions’ Lauren Davis placed third in the seniors two-mile race in 12:51. Megan Davis, Mary Moddrell and Erin Bennett finished 13th through 15th.

Meg Gentry was fifth in the junior race. Jenni Beasley was seventh in the sophomore race and Megan Johnson was fifth in the freshman race.

“We had quite a few improved times and 23 medalists,” LHS coach Dick Reamon said, noting the top 30 finishers in each race earned medals.
