Ottawa ? Ottawa High shrugged off an early deficit and rallied to a 13-7 football victory against Atchison on Friday.

“Oh, man, it was a huge win,” said OHS coach Pat Boeh, whose team improved to 3-3. “We played a quality opponent that came into our house at 4-1. It should give us some huge momentum going into the playoffs.”

Atchison scored first, but OHS responded with touchdowns in the second and fourth quarters. Vashon Perryman’s 1-yard run in the second and Michael Espinosa’s PAT made it 7-6. And Dom Nation pulled down a 25-yard TD pass from Gabe Sheffield in the fourth.

“Football’s played four quarters,” Boeh said. “They scored first, but we knew we were going to continue to do what we had game-planned. The kids executed down the stretch.”

DeSoto Shane Miles threw two touchdown passes for the Chargers, who improved to 6-0 for the first time since 1997.

Cameron Babb caught a 24-yard scoring pass from Miles in the first quarter and Brandon Elston caught a 53-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Jay Shively scored the Chargers’ other touchdown on a 7-yard run in the third.

DeSoto’s touchdown came on Mike Allen’s 4-yard run in the second quarter.

John Gooden scored their second touchdown with a 21-yard scamper in the fourth quarter. James Hartshorn scored on a 1-yard run for Tonganoxie (3-3).

Wellsville scored three different ways a 4-yard run by Matt Rogers, an 82-yard kickoff return by Josh Lamberd and a fumble recovered in the end zone by Ryan Oshel.
