Injury accidents
A 37-year-old Lawrence man was in fair condition late Friday at KU Med, Kansas City, Kan., after suffering injuries in a motorcycle accident earlier in the evening. Kevin B. Raasch was slowing down to make a left-hand turn off U.S. Highway 59, just south of Lawrence, when he lost control of his motorcycle, which tipped onto its left side, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol accident report. Raasch was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital and later transferred to KU Med. The accident occurred at 5:58 p.m.
Kansas Highway Patrol troopers were working late Friday at the scene of a one-vehicle rollover accident on U.S. Highway 24 near the Douglas-Jefferson County line. One male patient was taken by helicopter to St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. The accident occurred about 9:15 p.m. No further information was available late Friday.
Burglaries and thefts reported
A 22-year-old female Kansas University student told Lawrence Police that someone removed her laptop computer from her residence in the 1800 block of Illinois Street. The theft occurred between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday. Loss was listed at $1,000.
A JVC car stereo, 75 CDs and two packs of cigarettes were taken between 11 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday from a vehicle parked in the 3300 block of West Eighth Street, a Lawrence Police report said. The 20-year-old DeSoto woman who reported the items stolen estimated their value at $1,335.
