KU tennis claims four victories
Bloomington, Ind. ? Courtney Steinbock and Christine Skoda claimed singles victories and combined for a doubles win on Friday at the Hoosier Classic, which matched players from three Big 12 schools against three Big 10 schools.
After day one, the Big 10 schools led, 24-9.
In doubles action, Kansas was matched up against Indiana and took one of three matches. Steinbock and Skoda defeated Sarah Batty and Dominika Walterova, 9-7.
Junior Emily Haylock and sophomore Paige Brown lost to Karie Schlukebir and Linda Tran, 8-2. Senior Kim Lorenz and freshman Jamie Lang were topped by Martina Grimm and Sophie Rychlik, 8-2.
KU won three matches against Iowa in singles play. Courtney Steinbock beat Steffi Hoch, 6-2, 6-4. Brown dropped Deni Alexandrova, 6-0, 6-4, and Skoda beat Gloria Okino, 6-1, 6-4.
Haylock matched up against No. 77 Cassie Haas and fell, 6-3, 6-0. Lorenz was defeated by Chelsea Glynn 6-3, 6-4. Lang lost to Jenny Schulte, 7-5, 6-1.
