Free State’s football game moved to KU stadium

Free State High officials decided this morning to move tonight’s homecoming football game against Leavenworth from Haskell Stadium to Kansas University’s Memorial Stadium.

Haskell’s facility was the site of Thursday night’s Lawrence High-Olathe North game and the Fightin’ Indians are scheduled to play host to Langston University at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Haskell Stadium’s field is wet and muddy following mid-week rains.

“It’s pretty sloppy,” Free State athletic director Steve Grant said. “It’s our homecoming and we would have had our band and students walking on the field, and we didn’t want to tear it up for Haskell.”

Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. Free State played Olathe East at Memorial Stadium last Friday night in a game that was scheduled for the KU facility.
