FSHS player of week: Dain Dillingham

Position: Wide Receiver

The game: Dillingham had a career night  catching five passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns  and helped the Firebirds to a school-best 4-0 start with a 25-7 victory against Olathe East.

Dillingham, who also plays basketball, relied on his hops and his hands to snag three scoring passes away from defenders in the second half in a little more than an 18-minute span.

Dillingham, who piled up 14 more yards Friday than he had in his previous three games combined, now has 14 receptions for 360 yards and four touchdowns.

Comment: “He made some big-time catches out there,” said FSHS coach Bob Lisher. “But we weren’t surprised, the kid does it all the time in practice.”

Honorable Mention: Kyle Berthold. While Dillingham handled things on offense, the senior defensive lineman helped hold the Hawks scoreless in the second half. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder had seven solo tackles, a handful of the assisted variety and a couple quarterback pressures.
